PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie women's basketball team battled the Thomas More University Saints on Saturday, Jan. 20 for another Great Midwest Athletic Conference match-up. The Storms offense would struggle in the first half, resulting in a final score of 74-48. This loss brings their record to 1-14 (0-9 G-MAC).
Despite a competitive low scoring first quarter, the Storm would fall behind in the second quarter as they shot just 1-of-8 (12.5%) from the field. The Panthers forced eight turnovers in the second quarter, which resulted in 14 points. The Storms offense improved in the 3rd and fourth quarters, as they shot 12-of-23 (52.17%) from the field. However, this would not be enough for the Storm to come back.
The Storm were led by freshman Nina Schaffer who had 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field. She also had two rebounds and an assist. Freshman Sophie Chipps led the Storm in rebounds with four, and also had four points, two steals, and two assists.
The Storm will be back in action when they travel to Owensboro, Kentucky to face the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers for another conference match. This game will take place on Thursday, Jan. 25. at 6:30 p.m.
