COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Lake Erie women's basketball team traveled to Ohio Dominican to take on the Panthers for another G-MAC match. While the first half o the game remained neck-and-neck, even outscoring the Panthers in the second period, the Storm were unable to close out the game. The night ended with a score of 62-45 to give the Panthers the conference win. The Storm moves to an 0-8 conference record and are 1-13 overall.
Senior Alexis Lehmkuhl led Lake Erie in points for the night, putting up 13, with two rebounds and one assist. Freshman Nina Shaffer was right behind with 11 points. Junior Anna Ibos and freshman Ryan Elbert split the game with seven rebounds each.
Lake Erie and Ohio Dominican both picked up 28 points in the paint. Unfortunately the Panthers were able to outscore the Storm off of turnover, with 21 points against Lake Erie's four. The Storm's turnovers would put them in a deficit throughout the night. Lake Erie had an overall 36% for field goals, topping Ohio Dominican's 34.4%. The Panthers were also able to stay tight on free throws, shooting a 92.9% over the Storm's 50%.
The Storm look ahead to their next game against the Thomas More Saints on Saturday, January 20th at 3:00 PM, as they return to their home court.
