CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- The Lake Erie men's basketball team faced off against the Cedarville Yellow Jackets for the second time this season, this time on the road. The Yellow Jackets capitalized off a strong second half and handed the Storm a 92-86 loss. The loss takes the Storm's record to 4-11 on the season and 2-5 in G-MAC play.
Both teams played a very tight contest in the first half. The Yellow Jackets managed to hold the largest lead of the half with an eight-point lead but the game would be tied 38-38 by the end.Â
The Storm fell behind but kept Cedarville close more most of the second half. The Yellow Jackets would eventually take a double-digit lead and force Lake Erie to fight hard to comeback. The Storm did just that and pulled within three points with 30 seconds remaining. Unfortunately that was as close as they would get and they fell to the Yellow Jackets for the second time this season.
Leon Hughes led the way with 21 points and was one-of-four Storm players to score in double digits. As a team, Lake Erie shot 31-of-69 (44.9%) from the field, 9-of-27 (33.3%) from beyond the arc, and an impressive 15-of-15 from the free throw line. On the defensive end they hauled in 41 rebounds compared to Cedarville's 33.
The Storm will be back in action Thursday January 18th on the road to face the Ohio Dominican Panthers at 7:30 p.m.
