PAINESVILLE, Ohio — The Lake Erie women's volleyball team hosted the Northwood Timberwolves for their second matchup of the season. The Storm fought hard throughout, but could not finish a set in their favor. The Storm move to a 1-6 conference record and a 2-13 overall record.
The first set was anyone's game. Both sides battled with exceptional offense. Back and forth points brought the set to a 13-13 tie, before Northwood drew a lead. Storm errors would eventually give the Timberwolves the 25-19 win. Efforts from freshman Lauren Pallone, senior captain Dora Olah, senior Anna Lewis, and senior Alexandra Matthews kept the Storm in it.
The second set started with a 3-0 lead from the Storm, with back to back kills from Matthews and senior captain Simone Schurr. Unfortunately, Northwood turned the set around to take a 9-3 lead. Two service aces from senior Alana Stevens tried to bring the set back, but the Timberwolves did not let up. Olah, Matthews, and sophomore Jessica Ickes helped the Storm with some kills, but Northwood took the second set 25-14.
The third set started and finished in Northwood's favor. Pallone, Olah, and Matthews put away some kills to lead the Storm's offense, but the Timberwolves took the game winning set 25-14.
