PAINESVILLE, Ohio — The Lake Erie me's soccer team faced the Malone Pioneers for a G-MAC matchup, to which they took the 2-1 win after two goals in the first half. The Storm advance to a 1-1-2 conference record, and a 2-3-2 overall record.
Sophomore Wassim Metatla would score the first goal for the Storm 11 minutes into the game, unassisted. Sophomore Mathi Ott followed with his own unassisted goal at 36 minutes. The Pioneers fought back with a goal in the second half, but Lake Erie held their lead and secured their first G-MAC win of the season.
Despite Malone taking 13 shots with six on goal and the Storm taking 12 with two on goal, junior goalie Gianni Cobelo-Obregon protected the Storm's net with five saves.
The team heads to Thomas More for another G-MAC game on Thursday, September 28th at 7:00 PM, looking to take another conference win.
