PAINESVILLE, Ohio — The Lake Erie women's volleyball team hosted the Ursuline Arrows for another G-MAC match. The Storm were successful in three sets, securing their first conference win. The team moves to a 1-4 conference record and are 2-11 overall.
Despite the Arrows gaining a 7-2 lead in the first set, the Storm fought back with two kills from freshman Lauren Pallone, senior captain Dora Olah, senior Alexandra Matthews, and senior Julianna Krebasch to take a 13-11 lead. Strong offense and errors from Ursuline gave Lake Erie the first set, 25-23.
Matthews started off the second set with a kill, followed by a short run from Olah, giving the Storm an early 5-2 lead. The Arrows kept up, but consistency from Lake Erie handed them the second set 25-17.
Both sides of the net fought in the third set, yet Lake Erie put away 11 kills against Ursuline's eight. The Storm took the match winning third set, 25-19.
Olah finished with 14 kills, with Pallone following with eight. Schurr recorded 28 assists and ten digs, matching junior Brooklyn Broadway's ten digs.
The Storm are back at home on Friday, September 29th to host the Hillsdale Chargers at 6:00 PM for another G-MAC match.
