PAINESVILLE, Ohio — The Lake Erie women's volleyball team hosted the Walsh University Cavaliers for their conference home opener. The Storm battled with the Cavaliers in the first set, yet struggled to side-out in the second and third, with Walsh taking all three sets. The Storm drop to a 0-4 conference record and are 1-11 overall.
The score stayed close early in the first set, until the Cavaliers pulled ahead to a 20-11 lead. The Storm fought back with kills from Senior Alexandra Matthews and a run from junior captain Simone Schurr including two service aces. Lake Erie was able to bring it to 24-18, yet Walsh was able to secure the set with an error from the Storm.
Lake Erie was unable to get into a rhythm in the second and third sets. Offensive efforts from senior Anna Lewis, freshman Lauren Pallone, and senior Julianna Krebasch, Matthews, and senior Schylar Shepherd tallied some kills for the Storm.
Matthews led the team in kills, finishing with seven. Schurr completed the match with 21 assists, and senior Alana Stevens picked up four digs.
The Storm continue their run of home games on Saturday, September 23rd to host the Ursuline Arrows at 1:00 PM.
