MIDLAND, Mich. -- The Lake Erie men's soccer team took to the road to compete in their first Great Midwest matchup of the season against the Northwood University Timberwolves. After a late goal, the Storm were able to comeback and force a tie, keeping them out of the loss column in conference play.
The Storm seemingly handled their opponent pretty well throughout the contest despite the tie. Lake Erie out shot the Timberwolves 23-7 and consistency kept the ball in opposing territory.
After a scoreless first half, Northwood capitalized off of a poor Lake Erie defensive transition and poked the ball through the back of the net for a goal in the 67th minute.
The Timberwolves then switched to a preventative defense approach and kept the Storm from getting any good looks.
Finally, in the 84th minute,
Fabian Kiessetz tied the game up after a pass from
Maximilian Lintschinger.
The tie takes Lake Erie's record to 1-2-1 on the season with 0-0-1 mark in conference play. They will be back in action on Saturday, September 16 as they host the Walsh Cavaliers in another G-MAC contest.
