SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- The #4-ranked Lake Erie Storm men's soccer team took to the road today for their 2023 season opener to face the #23-ranked Notre Dame College Falcons. The Storm were unable to keep pace with the Falcons and fell in the contest, 3-0.
Notre Dame took charge of the game early on in the game by being aggressive on offense. They put together three early shots before one finally went in during the 16th minute.
They struck once again in the 21st minute and the Storm found themselves in a quick 2-0 hole.
The Falcons were kept scoreless the remainder of the half and struck one final time in the 52nd minute for their third goal and rode that lead out until the end.
Despite a better second half, The Storm were outshot 15-12 in the contest but kept par with the Falcons in shots on goal (6).
The loss gives #4 Lake Erie a 0-1 start to the season. They will be back in action Saturday, September 2 in Columbus, Ohio for a neutral site matchup against UIndy
