PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College men's lacrosse team hosted the #17 Seton Hill Griffins, April 1 for their second conference matchup of the season. The Storm gave the Griffins a scare but ended up falling just short of the win with a final score of 13-10.
Lake Erie kicked off the game by immediately making their presence known by putting up two quick goals in the first two minutes of play.
From there though, the Griffins would shift the momentum and go on a 8-2 run to end the first half and give themselves an 8-4 lead going into the locker room.
After some halftime adjustments, the Storm would kick it back into gear and start the third quarter by scoring five unanswered goals in six minutes to take a 9-8 lead and electrify the crowd at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium.
The Griffins would respond by swinging the momentum back in their favor again and score four unanswered to take a 12-9 lead.
With 9:25 remaining in the game, Graham Lofstead noticed the Griffins goalie out of the net and fired a shot across midfield for a spectacular 45-yard goal to bring the Storm back within two. That would prove to be the final goal for Lake Erie and they would finish the contest with their first conference loss of the season.
Dawson Kindall would lead the Storm with three goals in the game and Joey Ellison would tally two assists in addition to a goal of his own.
The loss now takes the Storm to 2-8 on the year and 1-1 in conference play. They will be back in action on Wednesday, April 5th on the road to take on D'Youville University for their final non-conference matchup of the year.
