Flury's Record Day Leads Storm Past Wheeling

PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College men's lacrosse team hosted the Wheeling University Cardinals for senior day today at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium. The Storm would take down the Cardinals to win their second straight Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) matchup.

The Cardinals who came into today's game with a record of 4-8 (2-2 G-MAC), surprised the Storm early on and held them to just one goal in the first quarter of play. They would take a 2-1 lead going into the second but Lake Erie came out swinging in the quarter. With goals by Tim Woods, Dawson Kindall, Brendan Luthart, and Jackman Schooley, the Storm would outscore Wheeling 5-0 and take a 6-2 lead into the second half.

The second half was controlled by Lake Erie as they outscored the Cardinals 3-7 in the third and 6-2 In the fourth to finish with a 19-7 victory.

Brendan Luthart would lead the way with five goals on the day including one assist on seven shots on goal to total six points.

Senior Mike Flury also had himself a day, going a perfect 22-22 in face offs and breaking the school record for most face off wins in a season which he previously held at 213. He also sits first in NCAA DII for most face off wins on the season.

The win takes the Storm's record to 5-7 on the year and 3-1 in conference play. They will be back in action on Wednesday, April 19 at home to face Mercyhurst at 7 PM.
