ASHLAND, Ohio — The Lake Erie women's lacrosse team competed against the Ashland University Eagles for their second time in a row, as their previously scheduled game against Trine University was canceled. The Storm were able to get passed the goalie for five goals, but the Eagles took control of the game with a 21-5 win. The Storm move to an 0-5 conference record and are 3-8 overall.
Sophomore Allie Smith and sophomore Shannon Smith led the Storm with two goals each. Graduate student Cynthia Saxby was right behind with one goal for the day. Junior Emma Rhoades recorded two assists, followed by Shannon Smith and freshman Madelyn Goodrich with one assist each. Junior Sydney Jekutis picked up three ground balls for the game.
Freshman Ainsley Sutter started in the goal for the Storm, recording six saves. Freshman Avery Artino took over the net for the second half, recording a save.
Lake Erie women's lacrosse heads to Walsh University on Sunday, April 16th to take on the Cavaliers for another GMAC game. Scheduled time is set at 12:00 PM.
