PAINESVILLE, Ohio — The Lake Erie women's lacrosse team returned to their home field to host the Tiffin Dragons for their first conference match of the season. Despite a close first period, the Dragons took over in the following three periods to take the 14-6 win. The Storm now have an 0-1 conference record and are 3-4 overall.
Junior Emma Rhoades and junior Cassidy Bourne both finished the Friday night match with two goals each. Graduate student Cynthia Saxby and freshman Madelyn Goodrich each tallied a goal for the Storm. Goodrich also had the solo assist of the night, making it her sixth of the season, along with 15 goals on the year. Sophomore Shannon Smith picked up five ground balls, making it her season high and 17th for the year. Freshman Ainsley Sutter started in the goal for the Storm, recording five saves. Freshman Avery Artino stepped in for Sutter in the second half, tallying nine saves.
The Storm head to Findlay on Sunday, March 26th to take on the Oilers for another conference game at 12:00 PM.
