ASHLAND, Ohio -- The Lake Erie Storm men's basketball team traveled on the road today to take on the Ashland Eagles for their second matchup of the season between the two. The Storm would fall in 79-74 in the tight contest.
Just like their last meeting on January 12, the two teams would play a another contest that would come down to the wire.
The Eagles would be in control for most of the time however, leading for about 33 minutes of the game. Despite the lopsided time of possession difference, Lake Erie would do a good job of staying within striking distance.
Down the stretch,
PJ Jones would be essential to the Storm's comeback efforts. He would knock down two big threes to put his team within one possession but ultimately, Lake Erie would be unable to complete a comeback, dropping their second loss of the season to the Eagles.
Jacob Plantz would have himself a day, setting season high marks in points (28), field goals made and attempted (10-19) and three pointers made and attempted (5-12).
Jonny Manning would add 16 points of his own while grabbing 14 rebounds and blocking three shots.
The Storm now drop to 12-9 on the season and have a 9-6 conference record, dropping them down to the fifth in the G-MAC standings. They continue their road trip on Thursday, February 9 at 8 PM to face the Northwood Timberwolves.
