PAINESVILLE, Ohio — The Lake Erie women's lacrosse team hosted the Daemen University Wildcats for the Storm's home opener of the 2023 season. This match was also the inaugural game for Daemen's women's lacrosse team. While the Storm came back with seven goals in the second half compared to only three in the first, they could not best the Wildcats, falling 14-10. This brings the overall record to 1-1.
Sophomore Shannon Smith led the Storm with four goals for the match, also recording an assist from sophomore Allie Smith's goal. Junior Emma Rhoades scored two for the Storm with three shots on goal overall, including a ground ball. Junior Cassidy Bourne scored for the Storm, while also recording two assists and a ground ball. Freshman Madelyn Goodrich and sophomore Erin Snyder both scored one for the Storm, all totaling up to ten goals compared to Daemen's 14.
Freshman Ainsley Sutter was in the goal for the Storm, defending all four quarters with eight saves.
The Storm are on the road for their next match against the Molloy University Lions on March 5th at 12:00 PM.
