PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- The Lake Erie College men's basketball team hosted the visiting Salem International Tigers for their final non-conference game of the season tonight, February 22. It came down to the wire, but it was the Tigers who walked out on top, 78-76.
Neither team took more than a seven point lead after the Storm took the edge halfway through the second half. The Tigers would soon fight back though and manage to maintain a slight lead in the rest of the way.
With 15 second remaining,
Jacob Plantz would tie the game up at 76-76 but Salem would score on a layup with just under two second left and the Storm would be forced to throw up a last half court prayer at the end, which secured a 78-76 victory for the Tigers.
Jonny Manning would lead the way for Lake Erie with 19 points and 10 rebounds while also adding two blocks. Plantz would also add 19 points in the contest and make a team-high four shots from deep.
As a team, the Storm would shoot 41.3% from the field and an impressive 44.4% from deep.
Lake Erie will be back in action on Saturday February 25 for an important season finale against the Walsh Cavaliers as the Storm have yet to secure a G-MAC tournament spot.
