PAINESVILLE, Ohio — The Lake Erie Storm men's basketball team was back in action after the holiday break on Saturday, December 30, as they took on the Cedarville Yellowjackets. Lake Erie would drop a first half lead and fall 83-78. This brings the Lake Erie record to 3-9 and 1-3 in conference play.
At the half, the Storm were up 43-32, led by a 10 point first half by Josh Irwin and 14 points by Jonny Manning. Caleb Plantz was facilitating early with four first half assists.
After being up by 11 at the half, a late surge by the Yellowjackets with four minutes remaining sealed their victory over the Storm. Lake Erie was outscored 51-35 in the second half.
The Storm were led by Manning, Irwin, and Jake Leibacher. Manning finished with 20 points and five boards. Irwin finished with 12 points and a team high eight rebounds off the bench. Piks and Plantz each finished with six assists each. The Storm finished 47% from the field, while only making 66% from the stripe.
Lake Erie heads to the University of Findlay on Thursday, January 4 to take on the Oilers in another G-MAC match. Tip Off is at 730 PM.
