BOCA RATON, Florida – The Lake Erie men's basketball team continued their two game road trip in Florida Saturday, December 16, 2024, when they took on the #1 ranked Nova Southeastern University Sharks. Lake Erie battled down in the second half of play but would lose to the Sharks 102-88. This brings the Storm's overall record to 3-8 but still just 1-2 in conference play.
The Storm shot 47% from the field overall and a solid 51% in the second half of play. Lake Erie would shoot 36% from behind the arch. The Storm continued to struggle from the foul line only completing 63% from the stripe. Lake Erie was also uncharacteristic posting 22 turnovers today. They scored 14 points off of 14 NSU turnovers while scoring 42 total points in the paint. Lake Erie continues to outscore their opponents in bench points; 28-25 respectively in today's matchup.
Lake Erie had four players in double-digits, Jacob Plantz, Leon Hughes, C.J. Hornbeak, and Jordan Burge. Plantz finished with a team high 21 points, four rebounds, two blocks, and two steals. Hughes has now put up back-to-back double-digit scoring outings, dropping 17 points, five rebounds, and two blocks. Burge dropped 20 points and hauled in a team high seven boards while Hornbeak had 11 points and a team high five assists.
Lake Erie is back home Saturday, December 30th for a conference matchup against the Cedarville University Yellow Jackets. Tip off is at 1 PM.
