BOCA RATON, Florida — Lake Erie traveled south for their two game road trip in Florida starting Thursday, December 14 as they took on the Lynn University Fighting Knights . Lake Erie found themselves down 13 at the half and would outscore the Fighting Knights 52 to 43, but ultimately fall 87-83.
As a team the Storm shot consistently, posting 43% from the field and 39% from behind the arch. Lake Erie struggled with free points, only able to connect on 6/14 from the stripe. Lake Erie again outscored their opponents in bench points, proving to have a consistent and solid group of role players off the bench. They also were able to score 24 points off of 14 Fighting Knights turnovers.
Lake Erie had three players in double-digit figures with Leon Hughes leading the way with a double-double in team highs of 20 points and 13 rebounds. Hornbeak and Plantz each added 14 points. Hornbeak also finished with a team high five assists and two steals. Jordan Burge had three steals on the night while Damion Williams recorded two blocks.
Lake Erie continues their Florida play on Saturday, December 16, when they face the number one ranked Nova Southeastern University Sharks. Top off is at 1 PM.
