PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie women's basketball team battled the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers on Monday, Dec. 11. Despite the close game early, the Storm would fall 91-55. This loss brings their record to 1-6 (0-4 G-MAC).
The Storm got off to a strong start, and were able to create a six point lead when sophomore Emma Fouch hit back to back 3-pt shots. However, the back and forth first quarter ended with the Panthers leading 23-18. In the second quarter, the Panthers were able to get their offense going and ended the quarter with a 20 point advantage. The Storm struggled to make a comeback, as the Panthers defense forced 34 turnovers in the game.
Senior Alexis Lehmkuhl led the Storm in points with 15 coming off the bench. She shot 6-9 (66.7%) from the field. Sophomore transfer Ryan Elbert led the Storm in assists with four. She also had seven points and one steal. Freshman Kylie Maxwell led the Storm in rebounds with six. Overall, the Storm shot well from the field at 19-39 (48.7%), and 5-9 (55.6%) from three.
The Storm will be back in action at home when they take on the Roberts Wesleyan University Redhawks on Saturday, Dec. 16. This non conference matchup will tip off at 4 p.m.
