Men’s Basketball Drops Another Close Match at Home

PAINESVILLE, Ohio — The Lake Erie College Storm men's basketball team were back in action after a long break for their much anticipated first home G-MAC match-up on Monday, December 11th, against the Kentucky Wesleyan College Panthers. Lake Erie drops a close one 76-74. This brings the Storm to 3-7 on the season and 1-2 in conference play. 

After taking an early lead, the Storm stepped up their intensity on defense that led to multiple fast break point opportunities. They ended halftime up 36-28. Lake Erie went 27-67 at 40% shooting from the field. They ended 14-20 from the stripe. Lake Erie forced the Panthers into 18 turnovers off of eight steals and three blocks. The Storm had 19 points off turnovers, nine second chance points, and 29 points off the bench. 

Lake Erie had three players in double figures tonight, C.J. Hornbeak, Jacob Plantz, and Jordan Burge. Plantz did it all for the Storm on both ends of the court. He finished with a game high of 22 points, four rebounds, three blocks, two steals, and one assist. Hornbeak finished with 14 points, four assists, three rebounds and one steal. Burge had a strong performance off the bench scoring 18, with a team high six boards and one assist, scoring 18 of the Storm's 29 total bench points. 

The Storm head to Florida on a two game road trip starting Thursday, December 14, when they take on the Lynn Fighting Knights. Tip off is 7 PM.
