PAINESVILLE, Ohio — The Lake Erie women's volleyball team hosted their second to last home game of the season against the Tiffin Dragons. The Storm honored their families in the Friday night match, where they would take set three from Tiffin in a four set battle. The Dragons finished out the fourth set taking the 3-1 win. The Storm move to a 3-13 G-MAC record and are 4-23 overall.
Sets one and two went in Tiffin's favor, as the Storm could not combat multiple runs throughout both sets. The third set was dominated by 15 kills from Lake Erie, with senior captain Dora Olah and senior Katelyn McMoore leading the offense. Efforts from the Dragons brought it to a 20-22 deficit, but a kill from Olah, a Dragon error, and a kill from freshman Ni'yah Fuggs gave the Storm the 25-20 third set win to force a fourth.
McMoore and Olah gave fighting efforts in the fourth set for the Storm, yet the Dragons stayed persistent with offense and defense to take the 25-16 game winning match.
McMoore and Olah split the lead in kills with 12 each. Junior captain setter Simone Schurr recorded an impactful 27 assists, followed by junior setter Sarah Leyden with 12. Junior libero Brooklyn Broadway picked up 13 digs, with Olah right behind with 12 and senior Taylor Metzler with ten.
