CEDARVILLE, Ohio — The Lake Erie women's volleyball team competed in their second to last game of the regular 2023 season. The Storm traveled to Cedarville University to face the Yellow Jackets, where they would fight down to a 30-28 third set, with Cedarville taking the three set win. The Storm move to a 3-15 G-MAC conference record, and are now 4-25 overall. 

Sets one and two had tight scores, with offensive efforts from senior captain Dora Olah, sophomore Jessica Ickes, senior Taylor Metzler, freshman Ni'yah Fuggs, senior Katelyn McMoore, and senior Alexandra Matthews. The Yellow Jackets would go on split runs throughout the sets to gain leads over the Storm. 

With Cedarville up two sets, the Storm was determined to comeback. Back to back errors from the Yellow Jackets followed by two kills from Fuggs and a service run from junior captain Simone Schurr gave the Storm a 12-10 lead. Cedarville was able to tie things up, and both sides fought hard to bring it to a 24-24 lead. A kill from the Yellow Jackets was matched with a kill from Olah, followed by an error from Cedarville to give the Storm match point. Back and forth points brought it to 28-28. Kills from the Yellow Jackets and a Storm error finished up the match, giving Cedarville the 30-28 match winning set. 

Fuggs and Olah led the Storm in offense with seven kills each. Junior Sarah Leyden finished with 13 assists, followed by Schurr with 12. Junior libero Brooklyn Broadway finished the match with eight digs. 

The Storm will take on the Thomas More Saints for their final game of the regular season on Saturday, November 11th at 6:00 PM.
