Women's Volleyball Drop G-MAC Game to Panthers on the Road

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Lake Erie women's volleyball team traveled to Ohio Dominican to face the Panthers for another G-MAC game. In a four set battle, the Storm fell to the Panthers with close sets. Lake Erie moves to a 2-7 G-MAC record and are 3-14 overall.

The Storm and the Panthers kept the first set tied throughout, up until 20-20. Sophomore Jessica Ickes went on a run with help from senior captain Dora Olah recording three kills. The Panthers tried to come back in the end, but a kill from senior Katelyn McMoore gave the Storm the 25-22 first set win.

Despite the battle in the first set, the second and third sets were in the Panthers' favor. Senior Anna Lewis, senior Alexandra Matthews, McMoore, and Olah kept a strong offense for Lake Erie, but the team could not best Ohio Dominican.

In a forced fourth set, the Storm did not lose hope. The set was tied multiple times, yet at 15-15 the Panthers took over. Strong efforts from Lake Erie could not combat the Panthers, as Ohio Dominican took the game winning set 25-18.

Olah finished with 12 kills, followed by McMoore with nine. Junior captain Simone Schurr recorded 18 assists, and freshman Jenna Sayles recorded seven. Junior libero Brooklyn Broadway picked up 23 digs, matching her career high.

The Storm continue their road games on Saturday, October 7th at Ashland to face the Eagles at 1:00 PM for another G-MAC match.
