PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- The Lake Erie men's soccer team hosted the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers today for their senior day game. The Storm were in control the entire contest and came away with a 5-0 victory.
Having lost their last game 2-1 to Ashland, the Storm were still in search of a statement win on the season. Both teams came into today's game with similar records but Lake Erie would prove that there is large gap between the two sides.
Tom Akinola got the Storm on the board first in the 19th minute of play on a quick pass from
Tomas Fernandez. Just a minute later, Maximiliam Lintschinger extended the lead after a nice pass from
Aaron Garrote.
Wassim Metatla put in the Storm's third and final goal of the half in the 42nd minute and in the second half, Fabian Keissetz and
Mathi Ott each put one in themselves to give Lake Erie a 5-0 victory.
The Storm defense was very impressive in the win, only allowing three total shots and two shots on goal the entire 90 minutes of play.
Ott finished the day with a goal and an assist while Garrote added two assists in the win.
The Storm will be back in action on Wednesday, October 11th on the road against the Findlay Oilers at 4 pm.
