PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- The Lake Erie men's soccer team hosted the Ashland Eagles today for another Great Midwest contest. The Eagles and Storm who were tied in the G-MAC standings coming into the game, played a very tough battle but Ashland would come away with a narrow 2-1 victory.
Both teams looked pretty evenly matched early on in the contest, but a costly team error in the 12th minute allowed the Eagles to sneak one past goalkeeper
Cooper Cook while he recovered from a previous save. With the deficit at 1-0, the Storm looked to get a rhythm going but struggled.
Finally, in the 31st minute,
Maximilian Lintschinger was subbed into the game and less than a minute later scored on an assist by
Tomas Fernandez.
It did not take long for the Eagles to take the lead back however as managed to do so in the 33rd minute.Â
Despite Lake Erie's best efforts in the second half, they were not able to score again and fell 2-1 at home to snap their three-game win streak.
The loss puts the Storm at 4-4-2 (3-2-2 G-MAC). They will be back in action on Saturday, October 7 at home to host the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers at 1 PM.
