Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Storm Win Another G-MAC Battle | Keep Pace in Tight Conference Race

PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College Storm men's basketball hosted to the Trevecca Nazarene Trojans on January 26 in an electric Jerome T. Osborne Center. The Storm would come away with the victory, 66-60.

It was a hard-fought battle by both teams the entire contest, with Lake Erie taking the largest lead of the night of ten points. The Storm would take the lead midway through the first half and hold that lead until the final buzzer.

The Trojans would make things interesting down the stretch though as they managed to trim the Storm lead to just two points after a three-point shot with 49 seconds remaining. Trevecca would then foul Jordan Burton who would knock down both of the shots and extend the lead to four. But Trevecca would not go away. They would hit their next shot, bringing them back within two. Another foul on Burton would extend the Storm lead back to four. Trevecca's next shot attempt would be blocked by Jacob Plantz and Jonny Manning would seal the deal with a powerful dunk and give the Lake Erie a 66-60 win.

Despite only making two three-pointers all night, the Storm would shoot 43.5% from the field and wreaked havoc defensively for the trojans, coming up with 11 steals and causing them to turn over the ball 17 times.

Jordan Burge would lead the way with a team-high 15 points on 7-15 shooting. Manning dominated the paint with four blocks while hauling in a team-high seven rebounds.

The victory improves the Storm's record to 10-8 on the year with a 7-5 record in conference play. Lake Erie remains in the middle of the pack in the tight conference standings and now sit only one game out of the third seed. They will be back in action on Saturday, January 27 at home against the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers at 3:00 PM.
