PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College Storm men's basketball hosted the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers on January 28 at the Jerome T. Osborne Center. The Storm would come away with a 78-59 victory and continue to impress in conference play.
Despite the lopsided final score, the contest was a tight and aggressive one from start to finish. Lake Erie would end the half with a 10-point lead, led by Jacob Plantz's 19 points.
For the second straight game, the Storm defense was a menace to opposing players. They would record eight team blocks and force the Panthers to turnover the ball 12 times. As well as their defense played, their offense played just as well. Lake Erie would shoot 50.9% from the field and hit 38% of their deep shots.
Five players would finish in double digits for scoring with Plantz recording a team-high 23 points on 9-13 shooting. Jordan Burton would finish with 19 of his own and score his 1,000th career point in the contest between his time at Notre Dame (OH) and Lake Erie.
The victory improves the Storm's record to 11-8 on the year with an 8-5 record in conference play. Lake Erie remains in the middle of the pack in the tight conference standings and move up to the fifth spot in the G-MAC standings. They will be back in action on Thursday, February 2 at home against the Findlay Oilers at 7:30 PM before heading back on the road for a four-game stretch.
