CEDARVILLE, Ohio – The Storm women's basketball team played in another road game for a GMAC match against the Cedarville Yellow Jackets. Lake Erie fought in all four quarters, out-scoring the Yellow Jackets in the second and third quarter, but ultimately would fall short with a score of 77-83. The Storm move to a 2-7 conference record, and 6-11 overall record.
Senior forward Abby Matalavage went 9-15 from the field with 20 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Sophomore guard Anna Ibos achieved her career high of 18 points in 29 minutes off the bench. Senior guard Angela Fink dished out nine assists to go along with 12 points, two blocks, and two steals in a team high 37 minutes of action. Senior guard Sydney Wyngarden added 13 points, three assists, two steals, and one rebound.
The Storm shot an impressive 30-59 from the field at 50.8% this afternoon. Lake Erie went a scorching 10-15 from behind the arch shooting 66.7%. Coach Perdas and the Storm caused trouble for the Yellow jackets on the defensive end, coming up with 9 total steals on the day. They would hold Cedarville to 19 total points in the second quarter and a mere 14 points in the third quarter.
The Storm return to their home court on Thursday, January 26th to host the Trevecca Nazarene Trojans for another GMAC game at 5:30 PM.
