Box Score PAINESVILLE, Ohio - As the spring season is coming to a close and teams prepare for the postseason, the Lake Erie men's lacrosse team set out to put the finishing touches on their spring 2022 campaign with one final conference home game against the Davis & Elkins Senators. They did just that and celebrated Senior Day festivities with a big 17-5 win.
Lake Erie was focused on their goal from the start. They bolted out to an early lead with goals from Dawson Kindall and Tommy Bichsel. Blain Wallace would then add two more of his own to round out the first quarter at 4-0.
In the second quarter, the scoring opportunities came quickly for the Storm as Tim Woods, Connor Dent, Tommy Bichsel, and Jackman Schooley would all find the back of the net to make the score a commanding 8-1 going into halftime.
After the intermission, it was more of the same as Kindall, Schooley, Woods, and Brendan Luthart would all add goals in the period to push the advantage to 12-4 heading into the final period.
In the final quarter of the game, Lake Erie would seal the deal with 2 more goals each from Woods and Tommy Bichsel, as well as another goal from Dawson Kindall. The final score would read 17-5 in favor of the Storm.
On the stats sheet, the clear offensive leader for the Storm was Tommy Bichsel as he contributed 4 goals on 6 shots on goal with an assist. Defensively, it was clearly Mike Flury who had the biggest impact on the game as he picked up a whopping 18 ground balls for the Storm. In goal. Lincoln Potter would add 7 saves to the Storm's impressive regular season concluding win.
Now that the regular season for beach coach Sam Ashton's squad is wrapped up, they will be keeping a close eye on the rest of Great Midwest Athletic Conference men's lacrosse action as the matchups for the conference tournament have yet to be announced. Lake Erie has secured their spot however, and they will be playing in the conference semifinals on Wednesday, May 4th. The opponent, location, and time of that contest has not been announced.
