Box Score PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College Storm men's lacrosse team took down the Walsh Cavaliers on April 12, in Painesville, Ohio, 10-9.
The Storm, coming off a solid win against Wheeling Jesuit, got back to work in conference play against Walsh. Walsh came into the contest with a 3-6 record and a 2-1 record in conference play.
The game was a nail-biter the entire time, with neither team getting more than a two-point advantage at any time.
The Storm were the first to jump on the board and by the middle of the first quarter, they had a 2-0 lead. Both teams remained in a tight exciting battle in the first half with 13 combined goals and Lake Erie holding a slight 7-6 before heading into the locker room.
In the second half, both teams would battle hard defensively and it looked like every goal could be the game-changer at any point. With a 9-7 lead and 7:43 left in the game, Walsh would score again, trimming the Lake Erie lead to just one. It wouldn't be until the 3:27 mark when a Tommy Bichsel goal would give the Storm a more comfortable 10-8 lead. Unfortunately, the Cavaliers would score one more goal with 1:32 left. Lake Erie would manage to win the faceoff and hold onto the ball long enough to keep the Cavaliers from scoring and finish the close contest witha 10-9 victory.
Nick Askin, Dawson Kindall, Blain Wallace and Brenden Luthart would all have two goals on the night and Lincoln Potter would record 11 saves.
The win improves the Storm's record to 5-5 on the season and 2-2 in conference play. Lake Erie will be back in action, Saturday. April 23 at home to face Alderson Broaddus at 2:00 PM.
