Box Score PAINESVILLE, Ohio - On an unseasonably warm Saturday afternoon at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium, the Lake Erie College men's lacrosse team sought to remain in the win column when they matched up the Flyers of Lewis University for their third home contest of the season. The game was well contested the whole way, but the Storm were able to ride a late surge to down the Flyers by a score of 13-9.
In the first, it was the Flyers who took an initial 2-0 lead. Undaunted, the Storm answered back with 3 goals of their own. Blain Wallace would start off the scoring for the Storm with 1 goal, and Dawson Kindall added 2 of his own to bring the score to 3-2 favoring the Storm.
In the second period, the Flyers would quickly even the score to 3-3. From there, Lake Erie took back the momentum with goals from Blain Wallace and Nick Askin. However, Lewis would reply in kind with 2 more goals, and the game would sit even at 5-5 as it entered the halftime break.
The third period would be the turning point of the game for the Storm. However, Lewis would make them earn it. The Flyers took an initial lead with a man-up goal early in the period. The Storm would then rattle off three goals of their own from Blain Wallace, Tommy Bichsel, and Brendan Luthart. This was not the end of the highlights for the Storm in the third. After a Lewis goal, Nick Askin and Mark Cox would each add goals of their own to bring the score to 10-7 entering the fourth quarter.
In the final period, the Storm would push their offensive advantage and would drive their lead up to 5 behind goals from Dawson Kindall, Tommy Bichsel, and Connor Dent. A late Lewis comeback push would add 2 more to the scoreline, but the Storm would pull away with a 13-9 victory.
On the scoresheet, the Storm were led by a stellar 3 goal and 2 assist performance from Dawson Kindall. Just behind his teammate, Blain Wallace would also add a hat trick performance of his own with three goals. Defensively, the Storm were aided by a strong performance from Garrett Brockmeyer with 3 caused turnovers. Lincoln Potter also had a strong showing in goal with 11 saves on the day.
After their second consecutive win, the Lake Erie men's lacrosse program will be looking to build on their win streak as they head up to Colchester, Vermont to face the Saint Michael's College Purple Knights for a 3 pm contest.
