Storm Can't Hold On Against #7 Mercyhurst

Box Score

ERIE, Penn. – The Lake Erie College Storm men's lacrosse team fell to the Mercyhurst University Lakers on March 22, in Erie, Ohio, 24-5.

Lake Erie knew it would have its work cut out for them as they traveled on the road to face a very good Mercyhurst program and right off the bat, they showed the Storm why they are ranked #7 in the nation.

The Lakers would shut out the Storm in the first quarter, scoring their first goal with 11:42 left and continued to roll through the second where they took a 10-0 lead with 11:44 left.

Lake Erie would manage to get on the board and stop the bleeding with a man-up goal by Blain Wallace but struggled to find a groove as Mercyhurst continued to roll.

The Storm would end up taking a 15-2 deficit into the second half and come out blazing as Nick Askin put another point on the board with just a minute and thirty-three seconds into the half. Blain Wallace would add another goal midway through the quarter, chipping away at the Laker lead and setting the deficit at 16-4.

Lake Erie would ultimately be unable to stop the bleeding though as the Lakers would cruise to a 24-5 victory in Erie.

The loss drops the Storm's record to 2-5 on the season. Lake Erie will be back in action, Sat. March 26 on the road to face Davenport University at 12:00 PM.
