INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Great Midwest Athletic Conference has announced its selections for the All-Conference awards for the 2022 football season. Eight Storm athletes would earn honors including one first-team selection, five second-team selections and two third-team selections.
Senior wide receiver Peyton Brown would lead the way for Lake Erie by being named to the First Team. Brown set a school record this season for the most receiving yards in a season with 1,079 yards on 65 receptions, including nine touchdowns.
Senior Gerald Gardner threw for the second-most passing yards in school history this season with 3,091 and threw 22 touchdowns while starting every game.
Senior Nate Dantley became the Storm's all-time receiving yards this season, surpassing Brandon James' record. He finished the season with 2,728 career yards and hauled in 834 yards during the 2022 campaign.
Cameren Grodhaus led the Storm in total tackles this season with 91. He was constantly a ball hawk threat to opposing defenses and totaled three interceptions and four pass breakups.
Michael Cox had another great year for the Storm. He led the team with 10.5 tackles for loss, had 4 sacks, and forced two fumbles.
Ibrahim Kanu was a staple on the Lake Erie offensive line this year. He would be a huge contributing factor to Gardner's career season and contributed to the early season run game success.
Vicente-Colon was one of the most well-rounded defensive players for the Storm during the 2022 season. He would rank second on the team with 84 tackles, rack up 5.5 tackles for loss and come away with 2 interceptions and 4 pass breakups.
Jovohn Tucker was one of the noteworthy student-athletes to set a school record during the season. On September 24 against Southwest Baptist, he would haul in seven receptions for a school-record 207 yards and add three touchdowns as well. He would finish the season with 45 receptions, 780 yards, and eight touchdowns.
