Box Score PAINESVILLE, Ohio. – The Lake Erie College Storm men's soccer took on the 6th-seed Findlay Oilers on October 29 for a quarterfinals matchup in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference tournament. Lake Erie would come away with the victory and advance to the semifinals round where they will face the Ashland Eagles.
After their previous matchup against the Oilers where they escaped with a 1-0 victory, Findlay looked strong defensively, keeping the ball away from their own goal for the most part. That was until Gio Da Costa put the Storm on the board at the 24:45 mark to give them a 1-0 lead.
Just one minute later, Teddy Baker would take a pass from Tom Akinola and give the Storm a confident 2-0 lead.
Eleven minutes later, Baker would strike again, this time unassisted, and deplete the confidence of the Oilers even more as they went up 3-0.
The second half would be uneventful for the most part until Baker would again score, his third of the game to put the Storm up 4-0. Findlay would manage to squeak out a goal toward the end of the match, making the final score 4-1 in favor of Lake Erie.
The Storm now advance to the semifinal round where they will face Ashland on Thursday, November 3 at Tiffin University.
