Box Score NASHVILLE, Tennessee -- The Storm women's volleyball team had another road match against the Trevecca Nazarene Trojans, falling in three sets. The Storm now sit at a 2-14 record, and the Trojans move to a 13-6 record.
Sophomore setter Simone Schurr started the match off with a service ace for the Storm. The Storm and the Trojans were a strong matchup, with multiple tied scores in the first set. At 5-5, the Trojans pulled ahead after some Storm errors and strong offense. Senior Maria Blatnik, senior Jordan Taylor, and junior Alexandra Matthews responded with some kills to bring the Storm back. The Storm were down 13-15 going into the middle of the set, before the Trojans went on separate runs to further their lead. Senior Dora Olah gave the Storm another kill at 17-23, but the Trojans took the set 25-18 from a kill and a Storm error.
The Trojans continued their run going into the second set, starting off with a 3-0 lead. The Storm battled back with strong offense from Olah and Blatnik, bringing it to a close 7-9 with the Storm down by two. Kills and errors from both sides continued the match, with the Trojans keeping the lead in the set. Junior Katelyn McMoore put away a kill for the Storm at 12-16, but more Trojan runs gave them the second set, 25-16.
The Storm continued to fight with the Trojans going into the third set. The scored was tied 6-6 before another Trojan run. Junior Schylar Shepard, Blatnik, and Olah fought to keep the Storm alive, but could not best the Trojans' offense. Taylor went on a run at 12-19 to try and bring the Storm back. The Storm tightened the score to 18-20 at the end, with four kills from Olah. A kill from Taylor and three kills from Blatnik kept the Storm in it, but the Trojans took the set 25-22 keeping their offense strong as well.
The Storm was led by Schurr with 13 assists, Olah with nine kills, and sophomore libero Brooklyn Broadway with 14 digs.
The Storm return to their home court on Friday, October 7th for their Dig Pink game at 6:00 PM to take on the Ohio Dominican Panthers.
