Storm complete season sweep of Oilers 2-1

Box Score

The Lake Erie Storm finally took the field for their home opener against the Findlay Oilers for a cool and blustery afternoon kickoff, and the Storm completed a season sweep of their opponents with a score of 2 to 1.

The scoring got started in the 31st minute when senior Tom Pearson was able to find the back of the net off of a Tomas Fernandez assist. The Oilers responded quickly with a goal in the 34th minute, and the game went into the halftime break on even footing.

The second half was closely contested as both teams had a fair number of scoring chances. However, it was the Storm's Ayden Von Essen who found the back of the net in to give his team the edge over the Oilers.

Key to the Storm's victory was another strong outing from freshman goalkeeper Tomas Wroblewski. Wroblewski had 9 saves in the game, including a pivotal save off a Findlay penalty kick in the second half.

Coach Louie Rolko's squad return to action for the first part of a Sunday afternoon doubleheader as both the men's and women's Storm soccer programs take on the Panthers of Ohio Dominican University for a 1 pm kickoff. The women's contest kicks off immediately after the completion of the men's game.
