Box Score Lake Erie set out to continue their best start in program history this weekend by traveling out to Lebanon, Illinois to take on the McKendree Bearcats. The Storm would emerge victorious and come out with a 17-10 victory, improving to 3-0 on the season.
The Storm would strike first on their second drive of the game, capitalizing off a 25-yard pass from Gerald Gardner to Eric Daniels as well as a roughing-the-passer penalty, putting the team closer into McKendree territory. The drive would finish with a 34-yard field goal by Justin Smith putting the Storm up 3-0.
Green would connect with reigning G-MAC Player of the Week, Peyton Brown, early in the second quarter to extend the Storm's lead to 10-0 and later connect with Nate Dantley on a 7-yard pass to take the lead to 17-0.
The Bearcats run game would keep them competitive throughout the competition, helping set up a 27-yard field goal right before the end of the first half and then again striking for a 15-yard rushing touchdown on the first drive of the third quarter but would ultimately fall short 17-10 to close out a strong defensive game.
The Storm will be back in action on Saturday, September 25 at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium for their home opener.
