Box Score The Lake Erie Men's Soccer team and head coach Louie Rolko hit the road for the first Great Midwest Athletic Conference matchup of the season against the Findlay Oilers. The Storm was able to pull away with a hard-fought 2-1 win.
The game started off quickly for Lake Erie as Jackson Beske scored the opening goal off of an Inigo Jimenez Garcia assist in the 18th minute. Lake Erie was able to take that 1-0 lead into the halftime break.
Findlay was able to equalize from the penalty spot in the 51st minute. However, the Storm was able to pull ahead with a late 83rd-minute goal by Ayden Von Essen. He was assisted on the play by freshman Teddy Baker. Senior goalkeeper Tom John was able to keep the Storm in the game by racking up 7 more saves in his third start of the season.
The Storm returns to action in the final road match in their season-opening series of 5 games away from Painesville with a matchup against the Tiffin Dragons on Saturday, September 18th at 2:30 pm.
