Box Score (NORTH CANTON, Ohio) - The Lake Erie men's lacrosse team dropped a 13-11 decision to the host Walsh Cavaliers in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference contest in North Canton. With the loss, the Storm move to 2-5 overall and 0-2 G-MAC while the Cavaliers improve to 3-4, 3-0 G-MAC.
After trailing most of the game the Storm tied the contest at 10-10 with 20 seconds left in the third quarter when Tommy Bichsel scored on an assist from Michael Bayda. The momentum continued to favor the Storm after a face-off won by Mike Flury led to a Jackman Schooley goal in the closing seconds to end the period.
Schooley's goal was the final goal of the evening for Lake Erie as the Cavaliers held the Storm scoreless in the fourth quarter.
Overall the two teams played an evenly contested match. Lake Erie outshot Walsh 47-44 while the Cavaliers secured 30 ground balls compared to 27 by the Storm. Flury won the face-off battle by winning 16 of 27.
Offensively Dawson Kindall led the Storm with four goals on nine shot attempts. Schooley added two goals, while Nathan Quinn, Blain Wallace, Connor Dent, Brendan Luthart, and Bichsel each added a goal apiece. Quinn led all players with two assists in the defeat. Goalkeeper Lincoln Potter finished with 12 saves.
The Storm will now prepare for a Saturday, April 10 contest against Wheeling in Painesville. The first face-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
