Box Score (PAINESVILLE, Ohio) - After a week off, Lake Erie men's lacrosse had the difficult task to match up with No. 4 Mercyhurst on Wednesday night, falling 25-5 in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference contest.
With the loss, the Storm slipped to 4-7 overall and 2-4 G-MAC, while Mercyhurst improves to 10-1, 6-0 in league play.
Lake Erie scored first, as Dawson Kindall scored with 12:16 to play in the first quarter from a pass by Blain Wallace. The Lakers quickie responded at the 11:05 mark and tied the score back up. Mercyhurst went on an 8-0 run and closed the first quarter with a score of 9-1. Going into halftime the Lakers continued their dominance and held a 15-1 lead at halftime.
After the break, the Storm showed some sign of life by scoring back-to-back goals from Tommy Bischel assisted by JP Napier and Connor Dent on a pass from Michael Bayda. In the fourth quarter, Neil Gardner scored the final two goals for Lake Erie at the twelve-minute mark and in the closing minutes with 1:38 left in the game.
Blain Wallace led the Storm with two assists, Mark Cox added four groundballs and Tyler Manning finished with two caused turnovers. Lincoln Potter finished with 17 saves in three quarters, while freshman Mitch Kiebala closed out the game with five saves.
Lake Erie has now played their final home match of the season and will now face Davis & Elkins on Sunday, May 2. The Storm currently are in fourth place in the G-MAC standings going into the final week of regular season action.
