(FINDLAY, Ohio) — On a chilly and snowy Thursday afternoon, the Lake Erie men's soccer team went on the road and defeated Findlay, 1-0. This makes the Storm 4-2 on the season, while Findlay moves to 2-1-2.

In terms of scoring, there is only one goal to mention in a 1-0 game. In this case, it's that of midfielder Daniel Utgaard, who got the assist from defender Riley Hensley to get his second goal of the year. That came in the 66th minute, and it was one of 11 total shots taken by the Storm on the day. The Storm also found themselves in Oilers territory more often than Findlay found themselves within striking distance of Lake Erie's goal, as the Storm had nine total corner kicks, compared to Findlay's one. Surprisingly, Findlay wasn't even able to get one shot off over the course of the entire game, being stifled by quality Lake Erie defensive play.

But where Findlay did surpass Lake Erie was in yellow cards, of which they received two, to the Storm's none. Nick McCracken picked one up in the 34th minute, and Jack Atkinson got one in the 79th minute. Additionally, the Oilers only had 11 total fouls, compared to the Storm's 14. And of course, Findlay had more saves than Lake Erie, 7-0, due to the fact that Storm goalie Tom John never even had any shot attempts to save. John would end up with the win in this one, while Oilers goalkeeper Andrew Boulton would pick up the loss.

Let's hope that this cold weather win will mark the beginning of a hot streak for the Storm men, as their shortened 2020-21 season heads into its final regular season month. Next up is a game at home on Saturday April 10, against Kentucky Wesleyan. That one is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. EST.
