Storm drop road contest at Roberts Wesleyan

Box Score

(Rochester, N.Y.) - Lake Erie men's lacrosse (0-3, 0-0 G-MAC) struggled to keep up with the offensive firepower of Roberts Wesleyan (4-0, 0-0 ECC) in a 13-6 loss on Thursday afternoon.

The Redhawks were first on the board scoring their first goal in just over 45 seconds from the first faceoff. A goal by Neil Gardner assisted by Thomas Polden tied the game up for the Storm. Roberts Wesleyan would go on to score three straight goals and closed out the first quarter with a lead of 4-1.

A pass connection between Connor Dent and Jackman Schooley was the only other goal in the first half for Lake Erie, as the two teams went into the intermission with a Redhawk lead of 6-2.

The Roberts Wesleyan lead would grow to six points before a Tommy Bichsel goal with 6:30 remaining in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, Lake Erie went on a three-goal-scoring run of their own that cut the deficit in half with 8:27 remaining in the game. That final momentum swing was not enough to overcome the deficit.

The Storm outshot the Redhawks 33 to 22 and won 16 of 22 faceoffs.

Lake Erie will return back to Painesville to rest before heading back out on the road against Wilmington (Del.) on Sunday, March 21looking to bounce back in their home opener against Frostburg St. on Saturday, March 6.
