Box Score (Erie, P.A.) - The Lake Erie men's lacrosse team was outmatched on Wednesday evening as the Storm fell to the host No.3 Mercyhurst by a 24-5 margin in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) contest. With the loss, the Storm fall to 2-5, 0-1 G-MAC play while the Lakers improve to 6-0, 2-3 in conference action.
The league-leading Lakers jumped out to an 8-1 and rode a 15-3 lead into the halftime break. Blain Wallace was the first to get on the board for Lake Erie scoring in the fourth minute unassisted. Wallace cut the deficit with his second goal of the night that was assisted by Brendan Luthart. Tommy Bichsel gave the Storm its third goal on a converted clear attempt that started with a pass from goalkeeper Lincoln Potter.
Wallace finished the game with three goals on seven shot attempts. Bichsel added the other two goals for Lake Erie and finished with a team-high five shots on goal. Mike Flury went 13-32 on face-off attempts.
Defensively, Potter ended his night with 13 saves. Lake Erie forced 12 turnovers but committed 18.
Next up the Storm will travel to take on Walsh on April 7. The first face-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
