Men's Soccer Loses to Trevecca Nazarene, 1-0

Box Score

(PAINESVILLE, Ohio) — On a sunny Saturday morning, the Lake Erie men's soccer team faced off with Trevecca Nazarene, losing by a score of 1-0. The loss drops the Storm's record to 3-2 on the season, while the Trojans improve to 2-4.

For most of the game, neither side was able to get much going offensively. Both sides would have chances, when they got the ball deep into the opposition's territory. In fact, there were a total of 15 corner kicks in the game. So both the Storm and Trojans were able to advance the ball, but just unable to get it past the final white line for a goal.

However, that would change in the 73rd minute, when Trevecca's Jonas Grossman got the assist from Carlos Bravo and put the ball in the back of the net, giving the Trojans a 1-0 lead after it seemed that no one would score for the rest of the affair.

And that's where the score would stay until the end, with Lake Erie losing its second game of the season and second straight game at home. Meanwhile, this would prove to become Trevecca's first conference victory of the season.

Two Trojans players received yellow cards during the game: Cillian Farmer and Brady Briley. However, the Storm would end up with more fouls in this one, besting Trevecca, 11-8. But Trevecca got off more shots than the Storm, 14-11, and Tom John ended up as the tough luck loser in this one, earning a loss despite only giving up the one goal. For the Trojans, the win went to backup goalie Isaac Layman, who came in early in the game due to an injury to starter Tyler Delgado.

With five games down and four to go, the Storm have crossed the midway part of their schedule as they enter April. The next game is at Findlay on Thursday, which will start at 4:00 p.m. EST.
