(BUFFALO) – In its third game against a top 10 opponent this season, Lake Erie fell to unbeaten No. 2 Le Moyne by a score of 18-12 at the Scott Athletic Complex. The Storm (0-5) were briefly tied with the Dolphins (4-0) before Le Moyne roared to an eight-goal second period.

Lake Erie appeared to have momentum at the beginning of the frame after Kyle Barna (R-Sr., Medina, N.Y. / Pfeiffer) scored his second consecutive goal to tie the game at 3-3. The equalizer erased an early 3-0 advantage taken by Le Moyne over the first 10 minutes of the game.

But the momentum tide didn't carry on long as the Dolphins scored the first of the aforementioned 37 seconds later to regain the lead and held onto it the rest of the way.

Still, the Storm refused to give up and won the third quarter 5-3. Blaine Wallace (Jr., Windsor, Ont.  / Calif.) scored on an assist from Matthew Cromie (Sr., Oakville, Ont. / Newberry) with 1:11 to play in the third, but the Dolphins responded with a buzzer-beating goal to head into the fourth up four.

Barna finished the game with four goals to lead Lake Erie. Cromie and Wallace each had three points on two goals and one assist, while Neil Gardner (R-So., Boston, N.Y. / Bishop Timon) also found the back of the net twice. Barna has now scored goals in his last 11 contests dating back to last season.

Johnny Wilson III (R-So., Chagrin Falls, Ohio / Chagrin Falls) took the loss between the pipes, but made 14 saves on 65 shots faced on the afternoon. Wallace and Gardner led the team with three ground balls each.

With Saturday's game against Saint Anselm now cancelled, the Storm return to action a week from today against Roberts Wesleyan in the home opener. It will be spring break for Lake Erie so the game will start at 12 p.m. Tickets will cost $5.
