Storm Falls in Overtime

PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College men's soccer team was in action today as they were defeated in overtime by the University of Findlay, 4-3. 

The Oilers jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead early in the first half.  The Storm cut into the Oiler lead when Javier Borreguerro (Nigran, Spain / Los Sauces School) found the back of the net off a corner kick by Andrew Bucur (Bedford, Ohio / St. Peter Chanel).  The Storm later tied the game with a goal by Max Maquire (Letchworth, England / Hitchin College) off an assist from Miguel Espinoza (Perry, Ohio / Perry) to tie the game at two goals apiece with just over nine minutes remaining in the first half.  The Storm entered the intermission deadlocked with the Oilers at 2-2. 

Lake Erie came out of the locker room ready to play as Ezekiel Ebenezer (Columbia, Md. / Long Reach) found the back of the net off a nice through ball from Bucur, to give the Storm a 3-2 edge at the 56 minute mark.  The Oilers tied the game 11 minutes later at three goals apiece.  The second half ended in a 3-3 draw and the game went on to overtime. 

The Oilers tacked on a goal in overtime and won the game, 4-3.

Lake Erie will be back in action Thursday (Oct. 19) when they travel to take on Ohio Valley with the game set to start at 3:30 p.m.
