Storm Defeated by Findlay

PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College men's soccer team was defeated today by the University of Findlay, 3-2.  With the loss the Storm falls to 4-5-1 overall and 4-3-1 in the conference, and with the win the Oilers improve to 6-4 overall and 5-3 in conference play.   

The Storm opened the scoring in the first half when Djordje Cancarevic (Doylestown, Ohio / Chippewa) scored off of a free kick taken by Andrew Bucur (Bedford, Ohio / St. Peter Chanel), to make the score 1-0 in favor of the Storm.

Findlay tied the game early in the second half when Mark Sleasman scored off of a corner kick taken by Nathan Williams, to tie the game at 1 goal apiece.  The Storm answered back less than a minute later when Anthony Novak (Toronto, Ont. / St. Mary Catholic) scored off of a cross by Chad Bencina (Willoughby, Ohio / Willoughby South), to give the Storm a 2-1 advantage.   Sleasman scored his second goal of the game for the Oilers tied the game at 2 goals apiece.  Sleasman gave Findlay their first lead of the game with his third goal, to make the score 3-2 in favor of Findlay.  Findlay held on to win the game 3-2.        

Lake Erie will be back in action Sunday (October 11th) when they host Tiffin at 3 P.M.
