Storm Defeat University of Findlay, 3-1

PAINESVILLE, Ohio- The Lake Erie College men's soccer team was victorious over the University of Findlay today (September 19th), 3-1.

In the first half, the Storm opened the scoring at the 31 minute mark, when senior midfielder Stefan Martin (Surrey, England / Greenshore) finished a cross from sophomore defender Kenneth Kolke (Stow, Ohio / Stow-Munroe Falls), to make the score 1-0.

In the second half, Lake Erie College widened the margin when senior forward Cory Bucur (Bedford, Ohio / St. Peter Chanel) scored a header off of a free kick taken by junior midfielder Ryan Gibson (Dublin, Ohio / Dublin Scioto) to make the score 2-0. 

The Oilers scored when Veselin Panchev headed the corner kick taken by Cullen Baron into the back of the net to make the score 2-1 in favor of Lake Erie College.   

Lake Erie College made the score 3-1 when sophomore forward Stuart Campbell (Glassgow, Scotland / Glassgow Academy) scored a breakaway goal in the last minute of play. 

Filip Ljubevski (Ajax, Ont. / Pikering) was in net for the Storm and faced eight shots, four of which were on net, and made three saves.  He allowed one goal, and made a huge save on a penalty kick late in the game to secure the victory for the Storm.
