Box Score PHILLIPI, W. VA. – Following each of their two losses this season, the Lake Erie College men's lacrosse team has bounced back with a dominating performance. The most recent example was a 25-3 rout on the road at Alderson-Broaddus College in an East Coast Athletic Conference Division II Lacrosse League match Tuesday evening (April 2).
The Storm (5-2, 2-1 ECAC) tied a school record with 10 first-quarter goals and raced out to a 12-0 lead with one minute to go in the first half.
Junior Trevor Tarte (Amherstburg, Ont./Kiski Prep) and senior Andrew Stockton (Medford, N.Y./Patchoque-Medford) each scored five goals to lead the Lake Erie offensive attack which saw 15 different players score.
Freshmen Ryan Jurek (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) and Mitchell Shafer (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) each scored twice.
The Storm outshot the Battlers (0-8, 0-3) 51-12 in the game. Lake Erie also held a significant edge in groundballs, 45-29. Senior Bill Desiderio (Lancaster, N.Y./Iroquois) had eight ground balls. He also scored his first goal of the season and won 15-of-19 faceoffs.
Freshman Tom Lipomi (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) allowed just one goal and made four saves to pick up the win in goal. Senior Dylan White (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) added a save.
Jimmy McCleery scored twice for Alderson-Broaddus. Teigan Haft had the other goal and an assist.
The 10-goal outburst in the first quarter marked the second time this season, and third time overall, Lake Erie scored 10 times in a single period.
The game was a make-up from the originally scheduled March 27.
The Storm returns home to host Lindenwood University in an ECAC tilt Saturday, April 6, at 3 p.m.
